An Analysis on Quality of Part-time Work in People with Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze part-time work of the people with disabilities in the aspect of the work quality and to explore a support plan necessary for which the part-time work can become a useful occupational alternative for the people with disabilities who are difficult for employment or full-time work owing to a restriction caused by disability or to a problem in light of health. An indicator of analyzing the quality of employment was formed by adding the fairness(discrimination) ¡¤ convenience offer index of reflecting a characteristic of employment in the people with disabilities and the job satisfaction index in addition to this after firstly selecting the indexes of wage, employment stability, social insurance, working-condition stability, and work fitness based on the indicator of measuring decent jobs in ILO. The analytical data were utilized the 7th Panel Survey Data of Employment for the people with disabilities. Part-time workers and full-time workers were compared by using the propensity score matching analysis. As a result of the analysis, the part-time workers and the full-time workers were not shown a significant difference in hourly wage. In the employment stability and the subscription to social insurance, the part-time workers were indicated to be in the poorer employment condition than the full-time workers. Out of the index for work fitness, there was a significant difference before matching between two groups in the knowledge?skill application, the potential for development out of job satisfaction, and the satisfaction with an opportunity of education and training. But there was no significant difference after matching between two groups. In the adjustment of working hours out of the fairness ¡¤ convenience offer index, the part-time workers were shown to have more adjustment of working hours compared to the full-time workers. Based on the above analytical results, there was a suggestion of the expansion in part-time job with good quality for improving the quality of full-time work.
